Blog #4 Seesaw

Seesaw is a very unique tool where students can show their learning process online through drawings, pictures, videos, collages, and writing posts found on Professor Wang’s PowerPoint. Each student can access it for free on their Ipads or Laptops and can show their learning in their own unique way allowing teachers to teach and assess to all types of learners. This is helpful for both in-person and online learning classrooms because teachers and parents can see how they are learning by interacting with them online as they develop new skills. Here is the site: Seesaw | Where learning happens

Teachers can create their classroom home page and create new sections that include instructional videos of them or choose from premade lessons on Seesaw for all ages of students. As the year progresses, all of the students' work is saved onto their portfolio that builds. Students can create and demonstrate learning in any subject: writing, math, reading, art, history, science, and more. Teachers can also comment and give feedback individually to each student while creating and providing individual assignments if necessary.

I can see myself taking advantage of this in my future classroom to watch students develop new skills. I am not sure what subject I would use this for since I want to be an elementary teacher or if I would use it for all subjects. I definitely want to use it if I can. I can see the Planning part of Teaching in TLC applicable to Seesaw because teachers could use the activities and premade video lessons for their lessons.  It is also a perfect tool for assessing formatively to see how students are thinking and what they understand vs what they need to work on more from the 7 Events of Instruction.

  1. Hi Kylie,
My mom is a kindergarten teacher and she told me about Seesaw the other day! Some of the second grade teachers are using it at her school and I thought it was so neat! I am excited to learn more about it from your blog. It is very cool that students can show others their learning progress on this technology. I love how interactive this technology is with parents. It really keeps them involved in their children’s learning. I did not know you could choose from pre-made lessons on Seesaw. That definitely will save some time for teachers! I think this is a great technology to monitor student’s learning. I agree that this is the planning portion of the TLC framework. It could also be used for formative assessment as well.
